NEW DELHI: The ongoing ICC Men's T20 World Cup 2026 is at the fag end of the group stage matches. Till Wednesday (February 18), 36 out of 40 group stage matches had been completed in the tournament, co-hosted by India and Sri Lanka. SUBSCRIBE NOW!Teams who have booked their tickets to the next stage are: defending champions India, co-hosts Sri Lanka, the West Indies, England, South Africa, New Zealand, Zimbabwe and Pakistan. Remaining 12 of the 20 competing teams have been officially eliminated from the Super 8s race.
T20 World Cup: India humiliate Pakistan again
So, all the four groups have a complete picture of who has qualified and been eliminated. Group C was the first to have a clear picture, the Windies and England qualified for the Super 8s, and the remaining three teams in the group — Scotland (late replacement for Bangladesh), debutants Italy and Nepal — were eliminated.Then followed the Group D, New Zealand became the second team to book their spot in the Super 8s after beating Canada in their final group game. The Kiwis joined South Africa in the next round from the group.
Afghanistan, UAE and Canada are now eliminated from the race.On Tuesday, Group B's picture also became clear as Zimbabwe joined Sri Lanka to the next stage from the group, forcing former champions Australia to exit the tournament early. Ireland and Oman are the other two teams to be eliminated from the group. And on Wednesday, Group A has their second team qualified for the Super 8s. Unbeaten India topped the group and marched for the next round with 4-0 record. Pakistan joined India after their victory over Namibia. USA and Netherlands are the other two teams eliminated from the group.

After rain abandoned the Zimbabwe-Ireland match on Tuesday, Group B's Super 8s teams were also finalised. Zimbabwe, with 5 points, joined co-hosts Sri Lanka in the next round. Australia were eliminated before their final group game.
